According to the analogy concept of series-parallel connection of the capacitance, the approximate formulae of effective permittivity along x,y,z direction for various inhomogeneous unit grids are deduced. Under the condition of numerical stability, these formulae are combined with the finite difference time domain (FDTD) scheme of arbitrary spatial grids to calculate the dispersion characteristics of 2D dielectric photonic crystal. This method can save several times computing time and memory compared with the conventional FDTD method. These effective permittivity formulae can also be employed in other electromagnetic problems to improve the computation efficiency.

PURPOSE: To study the possibility and the biological capability of the reconstruction of the combined tissues using dog's bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) with β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) in vitro. METHODS: Under general anesthesia, 3ml bone marrow was aspirated and cultured in DMEM under standard cell culture conditions. The 3th generation cells were collected for combination with 3mm3 β-TCP scaffold and also cultured in conditions of DMEM solution for 5-7 days. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was observation at 4th hour,2th day and 5th day. RESULTS: SEM showed the multi-porus scaffold had 2 morphologically distinct pore types with the main pore in the diameter of 450μm and interconnected pore in the diameter of 100μm. Cells adhered to the surface of the scaffold 4 hours later, and became a subconfluent layer on the scaffold surface at the 5th day secreting extracellous matrix. CONCLUSIONS: The porus scaffold β-TCP had good 3-D structure and biocompatibility, which provided safe surface for BMSCs to adhere and proliferate. Follow-up study on flash visual evoked potentials in the infants from 6 to 24 months

[Objective] Investigate normative data of normal full-term infants from the first 6 to 24 months by flash visual evoked potentials (FVEPs) in order to explore the evolution of the visual electrophysiology, and to assess the application of FVEPs in evaluating the visual capability of an infant [Methods] According to the parents' consent,we enrolled normal full-term infants below 6 months from Maternal
Children's Health Care Hospital of Luwan District in Shanghai. The parents of all the eligible subjects were invited by telephone to the Child Health Care Department of the Children's Hospital for an examination of their child. FVEPs were recorded in infants longitudinally at 6,12,18 and 24 months by visual electrophysiological testing device(Chongqing Kanghua Company. Chongqing). [Results] 28 normal full-term infants below 6 months were enrolled. We recorded the responses in all infants. The most characteristic response was a triphasic waveform with clear negative-positive-negative (N2-P2-N3) components. The latency of the N2,P2 and N3 showed a significant decrease as a function of age during the first 2 years, but their amplitude had no difference. The P2 latency had a negative correlation with age (r=-0.52;P0.01). [Conclusions] The relative stability of P2 wave of FVEPs maybe the most useful component to be used in pediatrics clinical work. During the visual capability assessment, the age of the infant should be considered.

Ordered porous anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) template with an ultrathin barrier and an Al substrate was successfully prepared by a method of step-by-step voltage decrement.Cu/AAO composite was prepared by electrodepositing Cu in the above-prepared AAO template by a cyclic voltammetry method. The morphology, composite and structure of Cu/AAO composite were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results indicate that the Cu nanowires have a face centred cubic single crystalline structure, the filling degree of Cu nanowires in the AAO template is high and the diameter of the nanowire is about 70nm with a length up to 30μm.
