Senior Retail Analyst Manager – China
This is an exciting time to join IGD. As an international food and consumer goods expert, we operate at theheart of the industry and are respected for the quality of our information and insight.
Headquartered in the UK, we are looking for an experienced and commercially-focused Senior Retail Analyst to join the team and support the growth of our business in Asia.
As a member of our international retail team, you will be responsible for IGD’s insight in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This involves tracking retail market performance, monitoring key trends, and delivering business critical information for our customers.

As a member of the international retail team, you will:
Deliver in-depth insight on the food and consumer goods industryin China, Hong Kong and Taiwan through IGD’s online service Retail Analysis
Build relationships with our global, regional and local members and potential members
Deliverclient-specific presentations and projects in the region
Travel throughout China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and occasionally to the UK
Core Responsibilities:
Develop contentfor our Retail Analysis website through primary and desk-based research
Identify consumer, market and channel trends, plus track retailer performance and deliver insight reports on these topics in a succinct and business critical way for our customers
Provide timely news and insight on retailer developments as well as market and consumer trends
Visit the latest concept stores, track best practice and innovation and incorporate this research into IGD reports and presentations
Maintain and update our retailer database, forecasting key retailer metrics and growth prospects
Meet industry contacts to assess the research needs of our customers
Identify and contribute to opportunities to deliver tailored projects for clients
Share research, best practice and innovation from Greater China with IGD colleagues
Demonstrate technical excellence with customers, inspiring confidence in IGD
Work closely with IGD’s Head of Asia-Pacific to support and develop the growth of IGD in the region
Skills & Qualifications:
Educated to degree level with Honours, ‘Xue Shi’ (学士) or equivalent
Proven experience working in the food and consumer goods industry, for a retailer, FMCG manufactureror service provider
Practical insight and in-depth understanding of the food, consumer or FMCG industries
Excellent written and spoken English is essential
Self-motivated, organised and able to deal with customers and contacts at a high level
Minimum 5 years commercial experience
You will also need to demonstrate:
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, able to write clearly and succinctly using PowerPoint
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills in Excel, able to work confidently with numbers and spreadsheets
External networking capability with a confident and engaging communication style, to enable IGD to build its network in China
Positive attitude and ability to be flexible
Excellent customer focus
Diplomacy, discretion and integrity
