So if I was to go with an AMD card middle of the rd what on the market would you buy?
Thanks! In my opinion, due to the price/performance ratio there's no reason to go with anything but RX 480 8gb unless you can get a R9 390x or R9 Fury (or fury x) for the same price. The highest RX card is cheaper than a 1070 and gets better performance than a 1060 in most cases, and better performance than a 1070 in -SOME- cases. The 1070 is reasonably priced however, considering it's performance point.

ASUS presents GeForce GTX 1080 FE graphics card
Just like many other video card makers ASUS has presented its Founders Edition GeForce GTX 1080 video card. The card is called GTX1080-8G and comes with a voucher for the World of Warships PC game.
The new ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition does not come with any unique features or functions given that this is a reference card but there are a few ASUS touches here and there. For instance, the card supports resolutions of up to 5120 x 3600 pixels and in addition to this its power consumption may reach 225W instead of the proclaimed 180W. Apart from this everything else is the same – the ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition features the GP104 GPU at 1607 MHz (1733 MHz Turbo), has 2560 CUDA cores, a 256-bit memory bus, 8 GB of GDDR5X memory at 10 GHz and DVI-D/HDMI 2.0/3x DisplayPort 1.4 connectors.
It is unclear how much this new ASUS card costs.
