Blight is a 2d survival game inspired by Patapon. Help the poor little blobs build their base,upgrade weapons,find ancient artifacts and challenge their inevitable fate. the you cant see the video)StoryThese poor blobs are suffering from a strange disease that causes them to cough more and more often till they die. The only known cure is the apples that grow in the woods,as they group up and adventure into the woods to find apples they also find other lone blobs which joins their team.But as their numbers grow beasts start to attack them as the night falls with glaring red eyes.GameplayThe gameflow is quite simple. During the day you wander into the woods encountering random events, enemies, merchants to gather resources, items. But once night falls you should return to defend your base and if there is time use it to upgrade your weapons. In the game you control the leader of the blobs(the one with the torch) and the other blobs will follow your lead, its more of a action game than the rythme control of Patapon ,but
i really like the idea of controling your units with a drum beat like a wardrum, so it might be added as a individual difficulty.FeaturesRandom unitsThe color of each blob is unique and the rgb is decided by their power ,stamina, intellegence stats. Red--Power--increase physical damage(axe and spear attack).Green-Stamina--increase hp, hp regen, and shield mastery.Blue--Intellegence--increase non-phycical damage(bleed,poison effects caused by axe and spear attacks).And some will also have special abilitys like +5% melee damage aura.Each time your start a new a game you will get a different set of blobs and the blobs that will join you during the game is also random so it is best to upgrade and choose items that match your team's strength.UpgradesResources and time in game is limited so you will not be able to upgrade everything, you should plan how you use your resources and time.Upgrading will increase your damage and will give you an unique passive.For example the spear upgrade tree.Lv1- n% to critical strike and deal 150% physical damage.Lv2- n% to poison the target and deal 10 poison damage over 2 seconds.Lv3- n% to pierce through the target and continue flying.Lv4- increase spear damage up to 300% acording to spear fly time.Item buildsThere will be a limit of 3 to the numbers of items you can equip.The item system is still in development but i want to share with you some design principles.Interesting
Like the DoomHam shown in the screenshots, i will be adding some items from games that i have played if i think its interesting.Another example(Phantom butterfly dancer)+n melee attack speed.+n melee crit chance.melee attack will give the attacking blob 12% evade chance for 2 seconds.Strategy changing Items that will change the strategy of the player in combat.Example(some really badass item name that i fail to think of)-50% melee attack damage.+100% bleed damage.Bleed is like poison and is caused by melee attack, after equiping this item the best strategy becomes 1.melee attack till enemy have full bleed stack.2.run away and kite. 3.bleed ends and melee attack to stack bleed again.When the normal melee strategy is 1.hit that **********.2.repeat 1.Greater the price greater the rewardSome item will give you great power at a questionable price.Example (Crown of cinder)+30% damage.-30% damage taken.Cannot unequip.The leader will age at a great speed until it burns to cinder, and then the new leader will be crowned.Cannot unequip means once equiped your blobs will die one by one untill none is left in a few days even if no enemy is attacking you, but in situations where you are outpowered and may die right now, dying a few days later doesnt seem so bad at all.Obviously there will be simple and boring items like +10 melee damage or +1 all stats but their effect is stable and riskless so its up to the player to decide to use which one.Challenging enemiesEvery enemy attack have obvious preparation animations,but will be very punishing if you fail to run away or block.And every enemy have their own unique strength and weakness.For example the bear is a slow formidable enemy at close range and has very high physical defence so is it best to use ranged non-physical damage like the spear poison to wear it down.While others like the frog spits poison bombs at long range and has very high poison resistance meaning that poison is the least effective strategy.ConclusionWith all of the above features and others that im still working on i wish to create a game with great replay value so that every attempt of the game players will be encountering different challenges and will be able to choose from multiple strategies.Thats all i have to share with your guys now, tell me what you think and what do you want to see in the game.Please comment :
