读写任务一题(附参考范文)
阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
I was brought up in the countryside by my grandmother. She was a very courageous and inspiring woman and was very beautiful, too. In comparison with her or some of my classmates, I always felt that I was not beautiful or pretty. In fact, when I was studying in middle school, I thought I was ugly and just because of these negative feelings I was not very confident. I often felt self-conscious. One day when I was walking with my grandmother after lunch, we met one of her friends. We talked for a few minutes. Just as my grandmother’s friend was about to leave, she turned to me and said, “Xiao Wen, you look so beautiful today in that green dress.”
No one had ever made a comment like that to me before. It was so encouraging. Suddenly I felt confident and happy. I couldn’t believe that someone described me as beautiful. It is true that those words turned my life around. And I admit that I treasured that green dress for a long time.

Praise can change a person
The writer was once praised by one of her grandmother’s friends for her beautiful green dress. This praise not only made her happy but also changed her attitude towards herself.
Praise is really magical. Perhaps many of us had such experience. Take myself as an example. I was very naughty in the primary school. Most of the teachers and even my parents felt headache of me. But it happened that I once got a very high mark in an examination and the headteacher reported this to my parents. My parents praised me crazily for this for quite a long time and told neighbours about that. I felt really happy and became polite to others. Every time when I heard others talk to me about my excellent examination result, I thought to myself that I would work even harder and made greater progress.(from www.nmet168.com)
Just as Shakespeare said, “Our praises are our wages”.

The use of the word imitation(模仿) reminds me that we ought to make some more comments on the risk of people imitating what they see on the screen in the way of crime or violence. First there was always a risk of children acting out scenes which could be dangerous. For example, I remember a woman who was head of a middle school telling me that she had happened to look out of her window when the children were in the playground and had seen them putting a small boy on a chair with a rope round his neck and the rope over
fortunately she was in time to get there before the child was hung. I remember a film in particular in which the hero who was imprisoned had escaped by electrocuting(通电触死) his guard , the technique of doing this being shown in detail. This was the kind of scene which we could cut for these reasons.

Scenes of crime or violence should be controlled
Scenes of crime and violence on screen often lead to dangerous imitation, which is often done by children, so this kind of scenes, especially the ones showing the techniques of committing crime or violence in detail, should be cut.
Nowadays whenever you go to the cinema or turn on the TV, it’s almost impossible for you to avoid seeing scenes of crime or violence. Too many scenes of this kind will lead people, especially children, who can’t tell invented story from facts, to think that crime and violence are common social phenomena, so when they are in similar situation or even when they are plying games, they might imitate what they have seen, and the technique of doing this being shown in detail will tell them how to commit the crime or violence, which could lead to serious effect on the safety of the society.
So I think this kind of scenes on the screen should be strictly controlled. Even if, for the sake of plots, they are necessary, the technique of doing this should not be shown in detail.

A lot of people think that teachers need to love their students, that they need to have an expert knowledge of their subjects, and that they should devote themselves completely to their jobs. All of these ideas are, of course, true to a certain degree but they are perhaps a little too simple.
It is impossible for anyone to love everyone they know, and teachers deal with a great large number of students over the years. On the other hand, teachers should certainly be able to make their students feel that they are concerned. A deep knowledge of the subject is extremely important, but equally important is the ability to pass that knowledge on to the students effectively ― a teacher needs to be trained in the skills of teaching. Finally, teachers have to devote a lot of time and energy to their work, of course. However, they are also models that their

Ladies and gentlemen,
It’s my honor to have the chance to speak here.
Most people think a teacher should love his students, have an expert knowledge and devote himself to the job. The ideas are partly true.
In my opinion, a good teacher should love his students. However, it’s impossible for a teacher to love his every student. Besides, for a teacher, the ability to pass the knowledge on to his students is more important than his expert knowledge. A good teacher should be ready to teach the students how to learn rather than what to learn. Moreover, not only should he work hard, but also he should be a well-balanced person.
My English teacher, Miss Wang always helps us out and is concerned about us. And also, he remains young psychologically and tries hard to understand his students. She often stays with us and shares with us her experiences. She amuses us by telling jokes in class at times, which makes us learn English in a relaxed phenomenon. In addition, She keeps upgrading her knowledge and takes every chance to study.
All in all, she is a worthy teacher. I like her very much.
That’s all. Thank you.

阅读下面的短文,然后按要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Years ago it was very difficult to travel from one place to another. The journeys were often long, tiring and dangerous. Today the picture has changed. Science has improved transportation and communication facilities a great deal. Traveling has become safer, more enjoyable and above all, more economical.
Traveling―whether within one’s country or abroad―brings many invaluable benefits. People travel for pleasure, business or for education and knowledge. In the world of yesterday most people were only able to read about strange and fascinating places across the mountains and seas. Later, with the coming of the cinema and television, man’s curiosity about faraway places with strange sounding names was further stirred up. Today man’s curiosity can be satisfied in luxurious comfort. There are first-class ships and airplanes to take him where his dreams lie.
We travel to increase our knowledge of the world in which we live. Knowledge obtained from books alone is not enough. New knowledge of different lands and peoples enrich our mind and soul. Books generally do not give us a very true picture of lands beyond our shores. Some of them are even misleading.

On Modern Transportation
With the help of science, transportation makes traveling safer and easier, which brings lots of benefits like satisfying man’s curiosity and increasing man’s knowledge of the world.
I can’t agree more. As the legend goes: To carry the news of the Greek victory, Pheidippides, a professional runner, had to run 42 kilometers without stopping. He dropped dead of exhaustion after shouting, “Rejoice, we conquer!” That happened in 490BC, but now it’s easy for us to cover this distance by car. With the help of modern transportation, we can go everywhere we prefer to. Even the journey to outer space is not a dream any more.
Despite the obvious advantages of modern transportation, it has also created many negative effects such as air pollution, traffic jams and lack of energy. To solve the problems, in my mind, there are two ways. On one hand, rules should be made for drivers to follow. On the other hand, if possible, we’d better use bicycles instead of cars to save energy as well as easing traffic jams.

Hi, I am Mike. I just went through my first year of college. The toughest part on me at first was the general adjustment.1 went to a very small high school where my mom was a teacher and she did practically everything for me. But at the college I needed to know some basic life skills, such as balancing a check―book, laundry, and the things you have to be able to handle that I never thought of in the high school! It was really tough for me at first and I got badly homesick.
Once that first semester was over and I got used to the college life, I loved it―good facilities, helpful instructors and a good library. The Students’ Union organizes various parties every week. I also go to cinemas and concerts, and often spend Saturday nights in pubs and clubs.
One thing I think is important is to get yourself active in things. I was on the dance team in college and met a ton of people that way…it was so much easier to make friends when you had a common ground.

I received a call from the nursing home. Grandpa was failing rapidly. There was nothing to do but hold his hand. “I love you, Grandpa. Thank you for always being there for me.”
Memories...memories... on hot summer days plowing the soil, planting the corn and beans and harvesting them in the fall...always working from dawn to dusk. But on Sundays he put on his gray suit and hat. Grandma wore her wine-colored dress and ivory beads, and they went to church.
I removed Grandpa's things from the room and found a very old handmade valentine in the top drawer of his nightstand. A piece of white paper had been glued to the center of the heart. On it, penned in Grandma's handwriting, were these words:
TO LEE FROM HARRIET With All My Love, February 14, 1895
Are you alive? Real? Or are you the most beautiful dream that I have had in years? Are you an angel―or a figment of my imagination?
You made me laugh when my heart was crying. You helped me set new goals when I was dying. You showed me dew drops and I had diamonds. You sang to me and angelic choirs burst forth in song. You held my hand and my whole being loved you. You gave me a ring and I belonged to you. I belonged to you and I have experienced all.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I read the words. Now it is framed on my dresser, a treasured part of family history.

After his grandpa passed away, the author found the grandpa’s valentine which is a fitting testament to the true and holy love story about his grandpa and grandma.
It is essential for everyone to get true love in his lifetime. On the one hand, it can bring in full confidence, but on the other hand it can contribute to many success.Without true love, however, you are not courageous to meet challenges. What’s more, you will fail in your study.
From my personal poit of view, we, out of true love, are considerate of each other’s feelings and courteous in our action but we do not insist that our own way is best and demand that our mates give in to us. Besides, we are concerned not only about our own individual interests, but about the interests of the other as well,
because we look forward to our relationship growing more meaningful and precious. Last but not least, we should treat our mates with absolute trust. As soon as we gain true love each other,we’ll be enabled to fight and ove at the same time, we’ll find our life full of color and flavor.

I have a friend Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch (牧马场) in San Ysidro. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.
The next day he handed it in to the teacher. On the front was a large red F. The boy with the dream asked, “Why did I receive an F?”
The teacher said, “This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant(四处奔波的)family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There’s no way you could ever do it.”
He stated, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.”
The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on his ranch for a week. When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough belief not to give up on yours.”

范文
This passage tells us that Monty Roberts, who had such strong belief that he didn’t give up his dream all the time, eventually succeeded in owning a horse ranch.
For a person, belief, always plays an important role in his/her life. As a saying goes, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Anyone who has strong belief can enjoy a colorful life. Otherwise, he will lose himself in his way of life.
Belief is so important that it can change one’s fate. As a deaf man, Beethoven went on working with his strong belief in the last year of his life, though he was not able to hear his own fine music. Marie Curie, a famous scientist, also has set a good example. In 1898, Marie found a new element in the pitchblende. In order to improve her discovery, Marie and her husband worked hard. At last they saw the dim blue light of new element ――radium. Her dream had come true.
From my personal poit of view, it can be seen that one with firmly-held belief is likely to get successful and master his own life.

“Can I see my baby?” asked the happy new mother. The bundle(婴儿包)was placed in her arms and when she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped-the baby has been born without ears. Time, however, proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect except his appearance.
One day when he rushed home from school and threw himself into his mother’s arms, he cried out bitterly, “A boy, a big boy… called me a f-…freak.” She sighed, knowing that his life was to be endless of heartbreaks.
He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift for literature and music.
The boy’s father had a talk with the family doctor. Could nothing be done? “I believe we could graft(移植)on a pair of outer ears, if they could be donated(捐献),”the doctor decided. So the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice a young man. Two years went by. Then, “You’re going to the hospital, son. Mother and I have someone who will donate the ears you need. But it’s a secret,” said the father.
The operation was a brilliant success. His talents blossomed (开花)into genius. School and college became a series of successes. Later he married and entered the diplomatic(外交)service. “But I must know!” he urged his father. “Who gave so much for me? I could never do enough for him.”
“I do not believer you could,” said the father, “but the agreement was that you are not to know….not yet.” The years kept the secret, but the day did come…. one of the darkest days that ever pass through a son. He stood with his father over his mother’s casket(棺材).Slowly and tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick, reddish-brown hair to let out the secret.

Help is Always Unselfish
An selfish mother donated her ears to her imperfect son without telling him about it. At last, the son got the secret from his father after his mother died.
Help is always unselfish. The mother donated her ears to her son, showing her greatest love to her child. From these, we can know how difficult it is for parents to raise their children.
In the daily life, we always get kind help from our teachers, classmates and friends. And their kind help is always unselfish. When I was in Senior Middle School, I lived in the school. Every time I was ill, my teachers and classmates gave me kind help, taking good care of me all the time. In today’s society, I was affected by some bad things, which made me think that there was no kindness in the world. It was my friends who did everything to help me out.
From these experiences, I have realized that helping others is necessary, and true love does exist in our daily life. Since then, I have changed myself a lot, and I also give hands to others when they are in need of help.

In order to persuade the boy to stay home, she told him, “Oh, come on, good boy, if you listen to Mom and then Mom will give you a present when I am back.”
“What present are you going to give me, Mom?” asked the son.
“We haven’t eaten meat for a long time, so I will kill our pig and let you enjoy a big nice dinner.” The mother comforted the boy when it happened that their pig was wandering in front of the house. Just at that time, her husband came back and heard what she said. Thinking of the nice meal, the boy gave in.
Not very soon, the mother came back, but what she saw shocked her. It was her husband who had killed the only pig of the poor family.
“Why did you kill it? You know that it is very important for my family.” she scolded him.
“I did that just for your promise!” Mr. Zeng answered.

Stick to what you promise
As described in the passage, Mr Zeng firmly kept his wife’s promise to his child, form which we learn that Mr. Zeng is worth depending on and good at educating children.
I can’t agree more with Mr. Zeng’s education method. Had I been his child, I would have formed a deep impression on it and gradually cultivated this quality. Just as an old saying goes, “Action speak louder than words.” If our parents themselves can do what they promise, we are likely to follow them.
The passage so well retained me the remembrance of an experience. Once, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t play basketball that week. Nevertheless, it is so fascinating that I even tried to persuade myself to enjoy it. In time, I resisted the temptation and kept my promise. Since then, I have realized that it is keeping our promise that makes us feel a sense of fulfillment and wins respect from others. So, please stick to your promise.

Mother’s Love
The fable presents a sentimental story to us in which an apple tree satisfied a boy’s wishes unconditionally. To the tree, nothing was more delightful than the boy’s company. The apple tree’s magnanimity and the boy’s selfishness impress me most. What the tree has done shows us how devoted a mother can be. The tree, like a passionate mother, always embraced the boy whole-heartedly no matter when he came back and what he required of it. But the boy’s actions are really shameful. Regardless of the tree’s health, he deprived the tree of its fruit, branches and even the trunk. He was too selfish. I was deeply moved by the fable and felt an impulse to praise all the mothers. It made me realize how great my mother is and I should be grateful for what she has done. To reward her, I’ll do my utmost to live up to her expectations.

If I Were the Boy,What Would I Do?
The tree in the fable is affectionate and unselfish. It dedicated everything to the boy but asked for no return. All it desired is the boy’s company.
If I were the boy, I would keep contact with the tree and be considerate. First, from the bottom of my heart, I know the tree is more than a tree, it is my dearest love. Young or old, I would keep in touch with it using various ways. If I have to travel away, I would write to it, phone him or send e-mails to it informing it of my life. Secondly, in order not to let my dearest feel so lonely, I would plant some trees and flowers around it. These plants will brave the hard winters with it. In addition, I would invite some other children to play with it. Their company will surely make the life more colorful.
Therefore, if I were the boy, I would hold the tree dear.

An Old Tree and Little Birds
The fable presents a story to us in which an apple tree sacrificed everything for the boy.
The moral of it is that parental love is so infinite that children should be grateful for that. Concerning trees, there is another story of an old tree that I want to share with you. In a valley of a mountainous area, there was an old tree. Many birds built their nests in it. Every spring, the little birds were hatched out. Then the tree would describe the beautiful world across the mountains to these curious birds. Its descriptions of the outside world were so fabulous that the birds were eager to grow up. In autumn, the birds left the tree and went to the world outside the valley. But they didn’t forget the tree and flew back in winter. What’s more, they brought back more stories which the old tree would depict vividly to the other little birds. That’s how the world should be like: the old and the young are devoted to each other.

Treat My Parents Well The fable presents a sentimental story to us in which an apple tree satisfied a boy’s wishes unconditionally. To the tree, nothing was more delightful than the boy’s company. What the tree has done for the boy reminds me of my parents. Like the tree, they would sacrifice everything for me. So I think it my duty to treat my parents with care.
First, in daily life, I should express my love and gratitude frequently. To let them know I appreciate what they have done for me is one important way to comfort them. I know words of love count much in making my parents happy. Secondly, I should do whatever I can to help my parents. Although I am busy with my study, I should help with the housework. Just as the saying goes: Actions speak louder than words, I should contribute my part in building up a harmonious family. In short, it is my obligation to treat my parents well.

One morning, a friend of mine set the breakfast table beside a huge window, which overlooked the Tred Avon River. Suddenly she leaned forward and cried out, “There is a goose out there!”
We saw the figure of a large Canada goose, very still, its wings folded tight to its sides and its feet frozen to the ice.
Then in the sky, she saw a line of swans. They flew from the top of the sky downward and at last landed on the ice. My friend was on her feet, with one unbelieving hand against her mouth. As the swans surrounded the frozen goose, she feared that the poor goose might be pecked out by those great swan bills.
Unexpectedly, those bills began to work on the ice. The long necks were lifted and curved down (弯下) again and again. They went on for a long time. At last, the goose was free and standing on the ice. And the swans stood nearby watching. Then, as if the goose was crying, “I cannot fly”, four of the swans came down around it. Their powerful bills chipped off the ice stuck in its feathers. Slowly, the goose spread its wings as far as they would go. Seeing the goose could freely move its wings, the swans flew slowly into the sky.
This is a true story. Every time I think of it, I can’t help asking, “If so for birds, why not for man?”

The passage reminds us to help those who are in trouble and shows us helping others is a good virtue, which one should treasure.
Life is not all roses. No one knows when he or she will be in trouble. The story above reminds me of my personal experience.
There was a time when I performed badly in my maths. It seemed that no matter how hard I tried, I still failed. Upset and disappointed, I fell ill and had to be in hospital for a couple of days. Hearing what had happened to me, Lily, my monitor, came to hospital, helping me with my schoolwork. It was with her aid that I recovered soon and improved myself in maths rapidly. I felt really grateful for what she had done.
From my experience above, I’ve learned that the sincere help between people is of great significance. Only with the care and help of others, can we get out of the difficulties in life and fly again like the goose in the story

On August 26, 1999, New York City experienced a torrential downpour. The rain caused the streets to flood and the subway system almost came to a stop.
Unfortunately, this happened during the morning rush hour. Many people who were going to work were forced to go home. Some battled to call a taxi or to get on a bus. Still others faced the storm bravely, walking miles to get to work.
I happened to be one of the people on the way to work that morning. I went from subway line to subway line only to find that most service had stopped. After making my way through crowds of people, I finally found a subway line that was operating. Unfortunately, there were so many people waiting to board the subway that I could not even get down the stairs to the platform. So I took the train going in the opposite direction, and then switch back to the downtown train. Finally, after what seemed like a forever, the train reached my stop. Then I had to walk several blocks in the increasingly heavy rain. When I finally got to my office, I was wet through, exhausted and discouraged.
When it was 5:00 pm,I was ready to go home. I was about to turn off my computer when I received an email from Garth, my Director:
I would like to thank all of you who made the effort and eventually reported to work. It is always reassuring(令人欣慰), at times like these, when employees so clearly show their devotion to their jobs. Thank you.

Just as Mike puts it, he managed to get to office after overcoming a lot of difficulties in the downpour, which resulted in his director’s thank for his devotion to his job.
In my opinion, Mike must have been moved because the hardships he experienced and overcame paid off.
I can’t help recalling one of my experiences. In Senior 1, I was so weak in English that I had to turn to my deskmate for help quite frequently. But one day, after reading a book he lent to me, I asked him a question in English, which made him puzzled. Then I told him the detailed position of the question on his book.
What delighted me was that I thanked my deskmate by helping him. Of course, there are varieties of way to thank others like getting greater achievements, helping the helpers, saying “thank you” on the spot, in a letter, on the phone and so on. Although tired and upset, the helper may receive recognition and encouragement.

Honesty is one of the most treasured traditional values in China. The children are taught to be honest when they are very young. At schools the students are also instructed to be honest.
However, with the development of society, we often hear complaints about dishonesty. Reports with the theme of dishonesty often appear in the media. For example, some people try to get rich and live a comfortable life. But they do not work hard honestly, instead they cheat others. They sell something quite ordinary at a very high price. Some people's delaying paying back the loan can serve as another example. Some people, including some college students, get loan from the bank, and promise to pay within, say, 3 years. However, they don't do that.
The dishonest people sometimes can get benefit from their behaviors. So some people assert that dishonesty can bring people benefit, while honesty only makes people suffer. Is that so? Definitely not. It is always true that honesty is the best policy. It pays to be honest. The cheater selling &the treasure& mentioned above will surely be disclosed and punished some day.
On the contrary, if he had been honest, neither the buyer nor he himself would have suffered. The people who do not return money in time will sooner or later become infamous, and will not get the money from others again. If he had acted differently, he would have earned respect and trust, meanwhile, the bank would not have suffered from loss.

范文
The passage mainly tells us that nowadays many people are dishonest for their own benefit. Because not only they neglect our traditional values, but also they want to escape being punished.
Dishonesty does great harm to our society. It can destroy our good relationship with others, bringing lots of unstable factors to the society. Sometimes, it may even affect people’s health.
Why should we be honest? Firstly, being honest is one of Chinese traditional virtues which we should carry forward. Secondly, friendship is based on honesty. Seeing that the honest person is reliable, most of people are willing to make friends with them. Thirdly, honesty is very important for us to build a harmonious society and realize our spiritual civilization.
As students, we should act honestly every day and never cheat others, including cheat in exams. Besides, we should help those who are dishonest correct their mistakes. Only in this way can we win respect from others.

阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。 A long time ago, there was a Swan Lake on a small island in the south. An old fisherman and his wife lived there. The fisherman went fishing every day and his wife just stayed at home raising chickens and ducks. They were shut away from the outside world except shopping at the grocer’s.
One autumn, some swans came to the island from the far-away north to live through the winter. As they had been very lonely since they moved here, the old couple were so glad to see the swans there, so they fed them with small fish and chicken food. Soon, they became very close friends. The swans enjoyed themselves and went out with the old fisherman and saw him fishing. When the lake was frozen, the couple brought them into their hut and gave them food. Even when winter was over, the swans were unwilling to leave away from the fisherman, looking for food on the lake in the daytime and resting on the island at night. The old couple looked after them carefully until spring came when the ice on the lake melted. For many years, the old couple did so. But one day, the old couple became very ill and died. Since then, the swans could not find anybody to take care of them and finally they died of cold when winter came and the lake froze.

范文1
Real love
In the above fable, the old couple has shown us their valuable moral characters of being kind, friendly, considerate and unselfish to the swans, which made them unwilling to leave.
( 30 )
There is no denying that the couple loved the swans so much that they spared no efforts to help the swans. Helpful as it was at that moment, it would gradually weaken the swans’ living ability and cultivated the habit of laziness. Eventually, they took all the help for granted and completely depend on others. In the long run, this kind of love isn’t the real one. Had I been the couple, I wouldn’t have done the favor to them unconditionally. Instead, I would have forced them to live independently, which might be cruel but would prove to be adequate. The harmful love is to arrange everything perfectly for him while the real love is to give him wings which results in lifelong benefits.
范文2
Love
In the above fable, the old couple has shown us their valuable moral characters of being kind, friendly, considerate and unselfish to the swans, which made them unwilling to leave.
( 30 ) Inspired by the story, I sudde3nly realized the importance of independence. As far as I am concerned, the death of the swans resulted from their over-reliance on the couple. They abandoned themselves in the selfless love and became numb, without planning for their future. Worse still, they gradually lost their capability of hunting food. Likewise, children nowadays are like pearls in their parents’ palm, which can not experience as much as those in the old days. Therefore, I believe we students should lea otherwise we should be struggling the rest of our life.

In some public toilets in Australia, signs have been put up in Chinese to remind Chinese visitors to wash out the toilet after use. In many scenic spots in foreign countries, similar posters ask Chinese people to speak in softer tones.
In China, there are many rude bus passengers who never wait in line for a bus and push hard onto it the moment the bus stops. There are also witnesses to accidents who fail to lend a hand to others. In Beijing, the residents’ impolite, sometimes rude manners are often noted by visitors from all over the world.
When talking about these phenomena, it is a shame for all of us Chinese people.
“ The success of the 2008 Olympic Games depends very much on showing good manners as on the quality of facilities and players’ performances, ” China’s delegate to the International
Olympic Committee said. “ The fact that some people pay little attention to their manners stands in our way of holding the 2008 Olympic Games successfully.”
Yes, showing our culture and our country’s economic power through this event is important , but good manners should be put at the top of our agenda(议程).

范文
Do Be Polite for ourselves, and for our Country
The passage tells us a phenomenon that many foreign countries have put up signs in Chinese to remind Chinese visitors to behave in good manners. What’s more, the author also indicates that good manners are of great importance to the 2008 Olympic Games.
In my opinion, good manners are not only important to one citizen, but also to the whole country and the nation. I still remember that I once came across a really rude and impolite man. At that time, we were waiting for the same bus and the bus finally came. No sooner had the bus opened its door than he pushed onto it. What’s worse, he knocked down an old man and didn’t even say sorry! It was really rude and even cruel. This incident not only showed how bad manners the man had, but also told us a serious current situation that some of our citizens lack the sense of being polite.
If the situation continues, it will be a fatal problem to our 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 Asian Games. So for the sake of our country and the two international Games, do be polite and keep good manners all the time.
