The mood is too dark for satire, the pace is too uneven for thriller/suspense, the characters are variously developed and one-dimensional.
I mostly enjoyed this, but I cannot recommend it to anyone I know.
The critical reviews make fair points and should be considered before you pick this up.If you'd like to read a fun, fast superhero novel without the potentially offensive language and depictions I can recommend Sanderson's&Steelheart (Reckoners Book 1)&unreservedly.Jessica Litwin5.0 颗星，最多 5 颗星This book is great! 已在美国亚马逊上发表已确认购买Here's my review in one sentence: This book is great!The writing is great, and actually reminds me of the sarcastic/ironic style of Josh Whedon's writing in TV shows such as Buffy, Angel, and films like Cabin in the Woods and The Avengers.
The writing actually flowed from scene to scene in such a way that I could easily imagine this book being pitched as a movie or TV series.I hate spoilers, so briefly as possible, this story is about a superhero, coming to terms with his past and the consequences of his superhero life.
The main character, Steve Clark "Reaver", narrates this story and through a series of flashbacks introduces us to his origins as well as his past successes and failures in both heroics and in relationships with friends and family. These flashbacks help provide context of current events in the storyline. Steve's ironic sense of humor is peppered throughout this narration which keeps the writing fun and interesting.For me, writing skill is just as important as story, and I will delete a Kindle book after only a few pages (regardless of whether or not it is a best selling novel), if the writing is cliched, stilted, and/or full of gramatical errors and poor characterization.
So, trust me when I tell you that the writing in this book is very well done and creative.
This novel isn't deep, and really doesn't have layers, but is a fun, interesting short read.I hope the author writes more about characters within this universe and have my Amazon.com account at the ready to buy more books!

【游侠导读】去年年末，Namco Bandai宣布PC版《黑暗之魂：受死版(Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition)》不会再被GameForWindows-Live(GFWL)恶心到了。简直是一个惊喜，FramSoftware不再使用微软DRM了。今天，又一件喜闻乐见的事情值得玩家高兴：游戏取消了莫名其妙的锁区规定。
　　去年年末，Namco Bandai宣布PC版《：受死版(Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition)》不会再被GameForWindows-Live(GFWL)恶心到了。简直是一个惊喜，FramSoftware不再使用微软DRM了。今天，又一件喜闻乐见的事情值得玩家高兴：游戏取消了莫名其妙的锁区规定。
　　近日Namco Bandai确认了新补丁发布消息，玩家可以通过下载新补丁来移除锁区规定，并解决一个导致游戏崩溃的bug。日发布的补丁完全移除了《:受死版》的奇葩锁区政策。新补丁同时也解决了玩家打开忏悔书时，导致游戏崩溃的问题。玩家只需登录Steam自动更新游戏即可。
　　如今，大家不用再和自己地区的玩家们挤位置了，目前玩家可以全球各地的勇士们一起联机打怪，共同享受游戏乐趣。
