Using your MOTU interface as an audio interface over AVB Ethernet
When operating as an audio interface, MOTU AVB-equipped devices can be connected to a Mac with USB or Thunderbolt (if available). With , and macOS
El Capitan (10.11), a third option is available: AVB Ethernet.
Wireless control over Wi-Fi
Through Wi-Fi, you can control all the device settings and mixing features in your MOTU pro audio interface(s) from your iPad, iPhone, tablet, smart phone and other Wi-Fi devices from anywhere nearby, such as a stage or control room.
You can set up local Wi-Fi dedicated solely to your MOTU pro audio interface(s), or you can set up wireless control through an existing Wi-Fi equipped Ethernet network in your home, studio, office or facility.
Wi-Fi setup for a local network (with no internet access)
For wireless control using a local Wi-Fi network for your MOTU interface (or AVB network). Use this setup procedure if your Wi-Fi network will NOT have internet access.
Wi-Fi setup using a home, studio or office network (with internet access or a local DHCP server)

Your MOTU pro audio interface can serve many functions in a variety of scenarios. These presets instantly configure the device for common tasks. For example, if you want to use your device as an audio interface for your computer, just

Audio Interface preset (2 of 6)

In the Expander preset, the routing grid maps analog inputs to ADAT conversely ADAT inputs are mapped to analog outputs. This allows the interface to extend the analog I/O of another optical-equipped device,
such as another audio interface or mixer.

The routing grid
The routing grid lets you connect inputs to outputs. You can also split an input signal to multiple outputs — as many as you want. Sources include the physical inputs on the interface, audio channels coming from the computer,
audio streams from the AVB network, and bus outputs from the internal mixer. Destinations include physical outputs on the interface, audio channels going to the computer, audio streams going to other devices on the network,
