现在不少音乐爱好者希望自己用电脑录制音乐，下面就简单的介绍一个专业的单轨音频编辑软件――Sound Forge。Sound Forge最主要的用途是录音，把任何外部信号录制成为一个wave文件，点击那个红色的录音按钮，就会看到一个录音控制台，它的功能非常全面。按“New”可以更改采样精度和比特率，还可以在下拉框里选择录音的方式，Remote（遥控）非常有用，点击后录音控制台变成了一个遥控板，在与其他软件同时运行时可以保持在前台工作，随意移动，非常方便。Monitor是打开旁边的电平表以监视录音时的电平变化情况，这是专业录音软件所必备的也是所有的录音师都需要的东西，否则无法保证录音的质量。当我们在Mic或Line in口接上话筒或线材后，打开Monitor，就会看到电平表的跳动，我们可以看一下在没有信号的状态下，你的声卡的噪音有多少，一般在-60dB左右，这个值是不符合专业录音要求的，但是别忘了，我们使用的是普通多媒体声卡，我们的录音环境是家庭而不是录音棚，如果换成专业录音卡和标准录音棚，其噪音将在-90dB左右，可以满足一般要求了。Sync是同步，我们可以方便地与其他软件取得同步。按下红色的录音键就开始录音了。注意，Sound Forge的录音与你在Windows里的设置相关，双击任务栏上的小喇叭图标，调整它为“录音控制”， Sound Forge将只录入你选择的输入口，如话筒或线路输入或MIDI等。在录音时应当随时注意电平表，如果输入电平过大会导致失真，电平表上将会有Clip的字母出现，告诉你这个地方太响了，一般情况下我们应该停止录音，重新调整录音电平。但是录音电平也不能调得太低，这样做虽然可以避免Clip，但是数字音频对低电平的描述没有高电平精确，录音电平过低对于录音质量是有不良影响的。虽然我们可以在Sound Forge中使用它的特殊功能去除录音造成的Clip，也可以使用Normalize最大化录音信号，但是这毕竟不是一个好办法，所以最好是在录音前多试几次，找到一个尽量大但又不导致Clip的录音电平。当我们录制完一段声音以后，就可以使用Sound Forge的强大功能对音频文件进行编辑和修改，由于一切都在电脑显示器上操作，使用鼠标，非常方便。你想怎样编辑就怎样编辑，而且有足够的Undo，你不用怕误操作。可以把音乐变得丰满、和协。也可以变得阴森、恐怖。Sound Forge的功能事实上完全不止界面上那一点，因为它还可以使用各种Sound Forge的插件或其他公司的插件。所谓“插件”是指这些程序是不能单独运行的，必须加入到可以支持它们的软件中去。这样一来Sound Forge的功能就能不断得到加强。Sound Forge一般地说用来录制单轨的音频，然后存为WAVE文件，成为一条等待处理的音轨。在录制的多条这样的音轨以后，我们就可以使用多轨音频软件如Samplitude或Vegas进行混音，一个音频工作站就这样在软件的支持下建立起来了。总体讲作为对单轨音频数据的后期编辑，Sound Forge的功能是十分强大的，而且它的录音功能很专业，所以在各种多轨音频编辑软件横扫天下的今天，很多人仍然钟情用Sound Forge来录音。
